Problem statement: Young adults aged 19–25 are deprioritised in the library, and there is no space allocated for them.
We have created a social space for young adults aged 19–25 that makes the library’s services easily accessible and provides a meeting place for people with shared interests. Current borrowing numbers are low, and our service will help increase these while also preserving the social values of Deichman Stovner. The library will gain deeper insights into this user group and receive a tool that helps them get to know visitors, allowing them to tailor their services accordingly.
We have focused on creating a service that requires minimal facilitation. Skape helps form groups and supports users in getting started. After that, the goal is for them to gradually become more and more independent. The service is communicated through an app where users can build a social network with friends or new people. This will function as an extension of Deichman both inside and outside the library.
For further development, we would explore collaborations with different partners such as the postal service, cafés, and other delivery services that could contribute to a richer user experience. The service could also be expanded to include other hobbies such as sewing, film, knitting, 3D printing, and audiobooks.
